Bygone LebanonLetter of the week You rightly mention Lebanon’s turbulent past (“Peace ... in the Middle East”, last week). I remember once having to remain in Byblos as it was unsafe to return to Beirut: a Hezbollah member had been shot there during a demonstration. At the same time, there was a TV crew from Damascus in town, shooting an advert for property developers. EB, LondonI lived in Beirut for more than three years during its heyday and cannot wait to return. Lovely people, lovely place.
