The Italian government has set three conditions for Dbeibeh to be officially received in Italy, as our sources have confirmed. The first condition, which has already been fulfilled, is for Dbeibeh to cede part of Libya’s share in the Italian company Eni projects in Libya to Italy. These properties were seized by Italy during its occupation of Libya and distributed to its citizens who settled in the country. The compensation will include the properties of Libyan Jews residing in Italy that were recovered by the Libyan state. The issue of recovered Italian properties was raised by the Italian Prime Minister during her visit to Libya in January, as our sources have confirmed.
