India's Consulate in New York to remain open year-round for emergency services - Telegraph India
The Consulate General of India in New York has announced that it will remain open throughout the year, including on all holidays, to help and facilitate people's travel to India in case of genuine emergencies. It advised applicants that before coming for any emergency service, they should call the Consulate’s emergency helpline number to ascertain the per-requisite of supporting documents for these services and ensure that they fall in the category of emergency services, which cannot be postponed to its next working day. The facility, which came into effect on Friday, is only for “emergency requirements” of travel documents such as Emergency Visa, Emergency Certificate (for travel to India on the same day) and transportation of mortal remains being sent the same day. The applicant will be charged an emergency service fee for an Emergency Visa as has been the practice, it said. The Indian Consulate in New York serves the states of Connecticut, Maine, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, New Jersey, New York, Ohio, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island and Vermont.

Apple nears deal with OpenAI to put ChatGPT on iPhone
Apple Inc. has closed in on an agreement with OpenAI to use the start-up’s technology on the iPhone, part of a broader push to bring artificial intelligence features to its devices, according to people familiar with the matter. An OpenAI accord would let Apple offer a popular chatbot as part of a flurry of new AI features that it’s planning to announce next month. Representatives for Apple, OpenAI and Google declined to comment. Keen to get ahead on the AI highwayApple plans to make a splash in the artificial intelligence world in June, when it holds its annual Worldwide Developers Conference. REWA NEWS: जिन नल-जल योजनाओं से एक बूंद पानी नहीं मिला, उनका दो करोड़ से होगा मेंटीनेंस
REWA NEWS: गांवों में लोगों को पेयजल उपलब्ध कराने के लिए चार-पांच साल पूर्व जिले में करोड़ों के लागत से नल जल योजना के तहत सैकड़ों पंचायतों में पानी की टंकियों का निर्माण कराया गया था। पानी की टंकी बनाने का जिम्मा पीएचई को दिया गया था लेकिन संचालन पंचायतों को करना था। पंचायतों ने न कनेक्शन लिया न ही टंकियों में पानी भर पाया। अपवाद स्वरूप कुछ कस्बाई क्षेत्र की पानी की टंकियों को छोड़ कर अन्य का श्रीगणेश ही नहीं हुआ।बिना संचालन जर्जर हो गई करोंड़ों रुपए से बनी पानी की टंकियांठेकेदार व जिम्मेदारों की फिर बल्ले- बल्ले, मेंटीनेंस के नाम पर सरकार का पैसा फिर बहाने की तैयारीकई जगह पानी की टंकी बनी लेकिन बोर ही नहीं हुआ। बोर हुआ तो मोटर नहीं पड़ा। जहां मोटर डाला वहां कनेक्शन ही नहीं हुआ। हुआ यह है कि ग्रामीणों को कभी एक गिलास पानी नल से नहीं मिला। बिना उपयोग के ही पानी की टंकियां खराब हो गई लेकिन पीएचई विभाग उनका संचालक कागजों में करता रहा। करोड़ों खर्च कर तैयार की नल जल योजनाएं बेकार हो गईं। पानी टंकियों में दरार हो गई। मजे की बात यह है कि जिन नल जल योजनाओं से जनता को एक बूंद पानी नहीं मिला अब उनका फिर से मेंटीनेंस होने जा रहा है। विभाग अब फिर से इन पर करोड़ों रुपए फूंकने की तैयारी में है।रीवा व मऊगंज की 76 नलजल योजनाओं के मरम्मतीकरण के लिए दो करोड़ से अधिक की राशि स्वीकृतजिले की (रीवा व मऊगंज) की 76 नलजल योजनाओं के मरम्मतीकरण के लिए फिर से दो करोड़ से अधिक की राशि स्वीकृत की गई है। जिसमें से प्रथम किस्त 81 लाख रुपए जारी भी कर दिए गए। कई पानी की टंकिया ऐसी भी है जिन्हें ठेकेदारों द्वारा अभी तक हैंड ओवर भी नहीं किया और फिर से उनके मेंटीनेंस का काम शुरू हो गया। मेंटीनेंस के पहले यदि संबंधित नलजल योजनाओं की जांच करायी जाये और जनता से पूछताछ किया जाए तो सारी हकीकत सामने आ सकती है पर धन्य सरकार के नुमाइंदे। जनता को सुविधाओं के नाम पर लूट खसोट करने में जुटे हैं। दरअसल लोक स्वास्थ्य यांत्रिकी विभाग के प्रस्ताव पर जिला पंचायत द्वारा मरम्मत राशि की प्रथम किश्त दी जा रही है। इस राशि से 9 जनपद के 76 गांवों की नल-जल योजना के तहत हुए कार्यों की मरम्मत होगी।गौरतलब है कि केंद्र सरकार ने अगस्त 2019 में नल-जल योजना को मंजूरी दी। जिले में पिछले 4 वर्ष से इस योजना के तहत काम चल रहा है। गांव-गांव में पानी की टंकी का निर्माण व पेयजल पाइप लाइन बिछाई जा रही है। अधिकांश जगह यह कार्य इतना गुणवत्ता विहीन है कि लोगों को पेयजल ही नसीब नहीं हो रहा। इधर, ठेकेदार ने काम पूर्ण बताकर भुगतान प्राप्त कर लिया। इसमें संबंधित जिम्मेदारों की भी खूब मिलीभगत है। अब इस योजना में फिजूल खर्ची का नया नमूना पेश होने जा रहा है, जिसमें जिला पंचायत सीईओ ने कलेक्टर के अनुमोदन पर राशि जारी कर दी है। बताते हैं कि इन 76 ग्राम पंचायतों की नल-जल योजना में सुधार के लिए कुल 2 करोड़ 4 लाख रुपये आवंटित हुए हैं, जिसमें से प्रथम किश्त 40 प्रतिशत राशि यानी 81 लाख 85 हजार रुपये अभी जारी किए जा रहे हैं।राज्य वित्त आयोग की योजना के तहत यह आवंटन किया गया है। मरम्मत के जारी राशि के स्वीकृति पत्र में उल्लेखित है कि इस कार्य हेतु निर्माण एजेंसी ग्राम पंचायत होगी। बंद नलजल योजनाओं में गुणवत्तापूर्ण सुधार 15 दिन के भीतर अनिवार्यतः कराना होगा। ताकि ग्रीष्म ऋतु में ग्रामीणों को पेयजल मिल सके। कराए जाने वाले कार्य का मूल्यांकन ग्रामीण विकास विभाग एवं लोक स्वास्थ्य यांत्रिकी विभाग द्वारा संयुक्त रुप से किया जायेगा। अब इतनी कड़ाई के जारी हुए निर्देशों का पालन मैदानी स्तर पर होगा, वह भी 15 दिन में, मुश्किल लगता है। अब अगले 15 दिन बाद और स्थिति स्पष्ट हो जायेगी कि संबंधित गांव के लोगों को कितना अच्छा और कितनी मात्रा में पेयजल मिल रहा है।रायपुर कर्चुलियान की 14 ग्राम पंचायत में होगा कामपत्र क्रमांक 1938 के अनुसार रीवा विकासखण्ड की 10 ग्राम पंचायतों की टंकी आदि का सुधार कार्य होना है। ऐसे ही, गंगेव की 10, रायपुर कर्चुलियान की 14, सिरमौर की 11, त्योंथर की 5 व जवा की 9 ग्राम पंचायतों में निर्मित पानी की टंकी एवं पाइपलाइन आदि में सुधार कराया जायेगा। इसके अलावा, नईगढ़ी विकासखण्ड की 8 ग्राम पंचायत, हनुमना की 6 एवं मऊगंज की 6 ग्राम पंचायतों में योजना के तहत सुधार के लिए राशि जारी हुई है।ग्राम पंचायत नवागांव कोठार में इस योजना के तहत पानी की टंकी बनी है। यह टंकी अभी तक हैण्डओवर नहीं हुई है। फिर भी, टंकी के चारों तरफ से पानी रिसने लगा है। टंकी पर चढ़ने के लिए बनी सीढ़ी में दरार आ गई है। यह कोई एक ग्राम पंचायत की स्थिति नहीं है। अन्य सैकड़ों जगह यही आलम है। यही हाल जलजीवन मिशन के तहत बनी पानी की टंकियों का है। ग्राम पंचायत उकठा कंचनपुर में बनी पानी की टंकी की गुणवत्ता बेहद खराब है। आधे गांव के लोगों को पानी मिल रहा है, जबकि पैपखरा तरफ आधे गांव में पाइप बिछने के बाद भी लोगों को पानी नहीं मिल रहा। ठेकेदार व संबंधित अधिकारियों की सांठगांठ का यह नमूना मात्र है। ऐसे बहुत सारे प्रकरण योजना के तहत जिले में दर्शित होने लगे हैं।
