Sperm whales, the largest of the toothed whales, communicate using bursts of clicking noises — called codas — sounding a bit like Morse code. Like all marine mammals, sperm whales are very social animals, with their calls an integral part of this. We are studying the calls in their behavioral contexts next to understand what sperm whales might be communicating about," said Ms. Sharma. Sperm whales, which can reach about 60 feet (18 metres) long, have the largest brain of any animal. If scientists can decipher the meaning of what the sperm whales are "saying," should people try to communicate with them?

Minor held for voyerism in Mangaluru's Kasturba Medical College
MANGALURU: A 17-year-old boy was apprehended for placing a mobile phone in the women's restroom of a private medical college in Mangaluru. The incident occurred on Tuesday at Kasturba Medical college at Bavutagudda in the city. According to Mangaluru North police, the minor boy had gained entry inside the college in the disguise of a patient and allegedly placed the mobile phone. The matter came to light when security personnel of the college found the mobile phone ringing in the restroom when there was no one inside. As per due procedure, the minor boy has been produced before the Juvenile Justice Board, said the police.

Deep irony: Editorial on Joe Biden referring to India, China, Russia and Japan as xenophobic nations
At a recent campaign event, President Joe Biden of the United States of America described India, China, Japan and Russia as xenophobic nations that do not welcome immigrants. He claimed that historically, the US’s openness to migration was a key factor in that nation’s economic growth. Yet, the reality about both the US and India — especially in recent years — is far more chequered than the self-congratulatory comments made by Mr Biden and Mr Jaishankar, respectively. Mr Biden has continued with many of Mr Trump’s restrictive policies relating to migrants seeking to enter the US through its southern border. India, which indeed has traditionally been an open and welcoming society, can no longer claim the moral high ground either.

Inquiry revealed that the blocking committee of the ministry of electronics and information technology (MeitY) has confirmed the emergency blocking order of the official X (formerly Twitter) account of Jharkhand Congress on Thursday (May 2) for tweeting the doctored video of Union Home Minister and Bharatiya Janata Paty (BJP) leader Amit Shah on April 28. The account remains visible outside India.”Official information accessed indicate that this blocking order was requested by the Indian Cyber Crime Coordination Centre (I4C) of the ministry of home affairs. The I4C’s threat analysis unit has been looking at the case of Shah’s doctored video. In Thursday’s meeting, this was the only blocking order that was discussed. “This is the first time Section 69A of the Information Technology Act has been used to block a political party’s social media account.
