Make the poor richer without making the rich poorer
It is puerile to politicise this serious issue by quibbling over which political party’s tenure has exacerbated economic inequality. The gap between the rich and the poor can be bridged by either making the rich poorer or the poor richer or both. In the current stage of India’s development cycle, economic growth is necessary for increasing the size of the overall economic pie. It is important to ensure a social security net through welfare programs for the poor until they can reap gains of economic growth. India can reduce inequality by making the poor richer without having to make the rich poorer.

Jackie Chan wants to meet Tiger Shroff
15 Apr - One Bollywood actor seemed to have attracted Jackie Chan's attention, but it wasn't for his acting. As reported on First Post, the action superstar reportedly asked to meet with Bollywood actor Tiger Shroff, son of big star Jackie Shroff, following his recent statement to the media that Kung Fu may have originated from India. In an earlier interview, Tiger stated that there are conflicting opinions in regard to whether the Chinese martial arts actually originated from the teachings of an Indian Buddhist monk, Bodhidharma, who arrived in China from India in the 6th century. An insider stated that Jackie, who made a career out of acting and producing Kung Fu-related films, happened to read the reports and wanted to meet Shroff to hear more about his previous statement. The actor reportedly has also asked his people to do some research about the topic to ensure he has the correct facts.

I have been involved with the petroleum industry for over four decades. A tour d’horizon of the international petroleum market is revealing. At some point, the economics of fossils may have to give way to the politics of clean energy. The international petroleum majors have recently declared solid profits, all because of higher production (and price) of oil and gas. Build up strategic oil reserves, increase the share of natural gas in the energy basket, invest in smart infrastructure, intensify R&D on clean energy, encourage public-private partnerships and scale up renewables.

This was largely due to a sense of disillusionment among the electorate over the dissolution of the erstwhile State’s Assembly. But the polls could provide a platform for the disenchanted electorate to air their grievances in the form of a decisive mandate. In Ladakh, the campaign led by activist Sonam Wangchuk has brought the question of Statehood and environmental concerns to the fore.

नवदुनिया प्रतिनिधि, सागर। सागर के इंदिरा गांधी इंजीनियरिंग कालेज में सागर जिले के तहत आने वाली पांच विधानसभा सागर, बीना, खुरई सुरखी और नरयावली में 12 00 से अधिक मतदान केंद्रों के लिए मतदान दल को रवाना किया गया। लगभग पांच हजार कर्मचारी इस कार्य में जुटे हुए है। सुबह छह बजे से मतदान के लिए चुनाव समग्री वितरण करने का कार्य प्रारंभ हो गया था। 10 बजे के बाद से अधिकारी व कर्मचारी अपनी चुनाव समग्री को अपने केंद्र जाने के लिए रवाना हो गए थे। कलेक्टर व दीपक आर्य, पुलिस अधीक्षक अभिषेक तिवारी के मार्गदर्शन में मतदान दलों को रवाना किए गए। धूप से बचाव के लिए पंडाल की लगाया गया था, वहीं पेयजल की व्यवस्था की गई थी। कई कर्मचारी अपने साथ भोजन भी साथ लाए थे।

In a study published in May last year, psychologists explored how people subconsciously evaluate different racial groups. For example, if test subjects combine “white” with “good” faster than they do “white” with “bad”, the test suggests they have an implicit bias favouring white people. Researchers asked half of a group of young, white participants to describe how they — as white people — differed from black individuals. Images of their brains showed lower activation in these brain regions when those in distress belonged to racial groups different from the participants. The amygdala being activated by something perceived as a threat is an automatic part of information processing in the brain.
