James CoxAn advert for Conor McGregor's Forged Irish Stout received a complaint over sexualised content, one of 18 upheld by the Advertising Standards Authority recently. Forged Irish Stout Distribution received a complaint relating to an advert described as: "An advertisement in the form of an Instagram reel featured advertiser’s own social media. It depicted a group of female models wearing two-piece outfits – a crop top and high-leg hotpants – posing around a vehicle drinking pints of Forged Stout. The complainant said the advertisement contained sexualised content which made a link between alcohol and sexual relations/ performance, and the complaint was upheld. Eir had a complaint upheld against it for misleading claims about prices for its monthly plans.

This year’s Budget will be delivered on October 1st, a week earlier than originally planned. Mr Chambers said October 1 became the “natural date” to hold the Budget, and denied that the change signalled an early general election. He said this was “laughable” as it would would leave Mr Chambers with less data to frame the Budget. Mr Chambers said: “What will set the wider budgetary and fiscal parameters is the Summer Economic Statement, which we will set out next week.

Gardaí seize cannabis worth €320,000 in Co WicklowGardaí have seized €320,000 worth of cannabis in Co Wicklow. The seizure came after the search of a home in Bray on Wednesday evening as part of Operation Tara. Officers found 16kg of the drug when a vehicle at the property was searched. A man in his 40s was arrested at the scene and detained at a Garda station in Wicklow.

A superb athlete and Gaelic footballer JJ Keane became one of the outstanding sports administrators this country has ever produced. When his playing and running days were over JJ Keane got heavily involved in sports administration. It’s exactly a century ago since Ireland first competed as an Independent nation in the Olympics, that was in 1924, also in Paris. The man widely regarded as the ‘father of the Irish Olympic movement’ was none other than JJ Keane. This was a sporting and cultural festival and because it was held after the Paris Olympics attracted many international participants.

Visiting restrictions remain in place at Mullingar's Midland Regional Hospital owing to an outbreak of Covid-19. Health bosses have said there will be no immediate let up to visiting restrictions at Mullingar’s Midland Regional Hospital as attempts continue to keep a lid on a severe outbreak of Covid-19. “Regional Hospital Mullingar is experiencing a high number of patients with Covid-19, which appears to be circulating in the community,” said the spokesperson. “As a result, visiting restrictions remain in place in general medical and surgical areas of the hospital to reduce spread of the virus in the healthcare setting. But the truth is that while cerebral palsy, or CP, starts in childhood it is a lifelong impairment that affects a person’s movement at any age. To make things worse they face a lack of co-ordinated services and encounter healthcare workers in Ireland who do not understand the unique and changing needs of adults with CP. Our research showed that 23 per cent of adults with CP in Ireland report that they don’t receive the physiotherapy they need. As it is my whole life has been turned upside down.”We know from our research that adults with CP face particular health challenges with ageing. The research also shows that many adults with CP fall very frequently, which can have a serious impact on their lives.
