Instead, an investigation was announced by others in the Electricity Department. These privately-owned inverters require the approval of the Electricity Department, but people install them without bothering to take permission. The Electricity Department would have us believe that he had been provided these, but does their responsibility end there? If Goa’s Electricity Department is full of hot air, it is only mirroring those above. So the death of Manoj Zamboulikar was not an accident, but just the natural result of the actual standard operating procedure of Goa’s Electricity Department.

Gráinne Ní Aodha and Cillian Sherlock, PATaoiseach Simon Harris has defended Ireland’s electoral system as transparent and valued, as marathon counting in the local and European elections finally came to a close. Our proportional representation system – the single transferable vote – means ballots are counted multiple times by hand as electronic voting or counting systems are not used. “Here in this country, we value our electoral system, PRSTV, and we value the peann luaidhe (pencil) and the ballot paper. “But every single vote in Ireland can be seen so transparently moving from table to table, count to count. There were 23 candidates in the Ireland South constituency, which the returning officer said had proved tricky for count staff.

Consultants say previous broken promises on hospital beds has meant that badly needed additional capacity has either not materialised or has been delivered at too slow a pace. The capital cost of delivering all of this additional public hospital capacity could be well over €6 billion, the Association suggests. IHCA President, Prof Robert Landers, says:“In April 2023, the IHCA cautiously welcomed the Minister for Health’s announcement of a rapid build programme to open 1,500 additional public hospital beds across 15 acute public hospital sites. A minimum of 5,000 additional public hospital beds are needed by 2031 – or around 700 extra hospital beds each year for the next seven years. “At some point, the Government is going to need to start delivering on their many promises to deliver additional public hospital capacity by publishing credible, fully funded, time-bound plans.
