"We learnt from that loss and I don't think we've conceded late goals in recent times," said Manpreet. Now the idea is to make every attack count," Manpreet said. Manpreet knows what a medal in Tokyo, regardless of its hue, could do for the game's profile in India. Years ago, Manpreet visited Balbir Singh senior, who was part of three Olympic title-winning teams between 1948-56. "This is the biggest dream in my life now, to have an Olympic medal around my neck."

The new rules, in the works for years and announced in February, apply to social media companies, streaming platforms and digital news publishers. “Social media users can criticise Narendra Modi, they can criticise government policy, and ask questions. Bharatiya Janata Party’s social media team has meanwhile been accused of initiating online attacks against critics of Modi. Germany requires social media companies to devote local staff and data storage to curbing hate speech. In Turkey, social media companies complied with a broad mandate for removing content only after they were fined and faced threats to their ad revenues.

Straits-born cuisine has long been synonymous with the Straits-born Chinese. But in putting together her latest cookbook, In A Straits-Born Kitchen, experienced author and prolific cookbook collector Lee Geok Boi realised that Straits-born food isn’t just restricted to Straits-born Chinese cuisine. Lee says the prevalence in the link between Straits-born Chinese and Straits-born cuisine is likely the direct result of the Straits-born Chinese being more visible in mainstream consciousness. Early Penang Peranakan cookbooks were all by Peranakan Chinese. Her parents are from Penang (the family eventually moved to Singapore) and she is a Straits-born Chinese.

Brittle nails that are caused by repeated washing or wetting can be protected by using moisturisers. You should also protect your nails and hands when you are using detergents, chemicals or washing liquids by wearing rubber gloves. If you are indeed deficient in iron, you will need iron supplements until you recover. Nail psoriasis can cause pitted, dented or crumbling nails. Psoriasis causes extremely scaly skin that flakes away, so the skin buildup underneath the nails can sometimes cause the nail to be separated from the nail bed.

WITH three mouths to feed and bills to pay, R. Megala had no choice but to hoist a white flag outside her house in Klebang, Ipoh. In fact, it was an employer who told her about the white flag campaign, she said, adding that help from the council came just four days after she put up an old towel as a white flag. The city council responded by donating items to her under the “MBI Prihatin” (MBI Cares) programme, which has seen it collaborating with supermarket chain Econsave. He added that this was the third time MBI had come forward to help those who raised a white flag. As the money she earns as a cleaner is not enough, Megala is looking for more work or households that required her services.

It’s a striking contrast to other major cities around the world that are starting to reopen and a blow to Taiwan’s retail and restaurant industries, which employ about 20% of the economy’s workers. Kang Yuan, a traditional Cantonese restaurant often frequented by Taiwan’s lawmakers, closed its doors earlier this month after two decades of business. If the situation seems like it will turn around, owners will hang in there for two to three months. But now, they just don’t see any hope.”Restaurants, hotels, and the retail sector are taking the biggest hit from Taiwan’s Covid outbreak. Most restaurants and stores will not see their sales recover to around half of their pre-outbreak levels until the government fully lifts its restrictions.

YAKUTIA, Russia (Reuters) - Russian military helicopters flew in firefighters to battle Siberian wildfires on Wednesday, and the Kremlin said climate change was to blame for the unprecedented blazes. Fires raged across almost 800,000 hectares of Russian forestland, carpeting swathes of the northeastern region of Yakutia in smoke. A Russian air force Mi-8 military helicopter carried out reconnaissance flights to identify the worst-affected areas of Yakutia and transported units of firefighters as thick smoke billowed up from the forest. Fires tear through Russian forestland every year, but they have become more intense in recent seasons amid unusually high temperatures across the northern Siberian tundra. The Kremlin on Wednesday dismissed criticism that Russian planes had helped foreign countries like Greence and Turkey battle wildfires while Russia itself was burning.
