KUALA BERANG: A family of six living in a dilapidated boathouse in Tasik Kenyir here is hoping that the Covid-19 pandemic will end soon so that they can live “normally”. Shamsuddin Khalid, 45, said he could not wait for tourists to return to Tasik Kenyir so that he would have income to repair his crumbling boathouse. “Everything went well until the boat broke down in March 2020 and I did not have sufficient funds to repair it,” he said. Shamsuddin said he received a RM5,000 assistance from the Central Terengganu Development Authority (Ketengah) to repair the boathouse but it was insufficient as the damage was rather extensive. My husband did apply for aid from the government to repair our house and we hope it will be approved soon,” she said.

FOR the past few months, Selangor has topped the list of daily Covid-19 infections despite steady decline in other states. Other states also at one time or another experienced high Covid-19 cases and with all the intensive measures taken by both the state governments and Federal Government, cases seem to have gone down steadily. It seems that this rich state is gradually becoming a Covid-19 epicentre based on the high daily infections. If other states are steadily seeing a decline in Covid-19 cases, why isn’t Selangor? The ramping up of the National Covid-19 Immunisation Programme is a vital approach in fighting the pandemic.

Both Google and Amazon said they were continuing to assist the CMA. CMA action last year over the trading of fake reviews resulted in Facebook, Instagram and eBay removing groups and banning individuals for buying and selling fake reviews on their sites. The CMA started its investigation into reviews in May 2020, focusing on the internal systems and processes of several platforms for identifying and dealing with fake reviews. A team from Jaya Pest Solutions and General Services disinfecting a clothing store after the shop is closed for the day. For commercial premises, disinfection is done after office hours, on weekends or when the building is temporarily shut after Covid-19 cases are detected. Similarly, Hygiene Sanitary Cleaning Services Sdn Bhd general manager Tan Hong Leong said the increase in calls for disinfection services correlated with the number of Covid-19 cases reported. Most of Tan’s current customers who ask for disinfection services are from the commercial sector, such as offices, factories, hypermarkets and banks. But they are still safe for humans as long as nobody is inside the premises when disinfection is carried out.
