For Sylvia Wong, who runs a home-based food business that she started last year, engaging customers through social media is a given. “Social distancing has paved the way for the home-centric lifestyle as well as commerce with minimal physical contact. It also helps that the region’s digital consumers have always been open to trying new brands. “Most of our orders come through our social media channels or customers learn about us from our social media. I would say 90% of our orders come from social media and only 10% are walk-in customers,” he says.

(June 6): Klarna Bank AB, Europe’s most valuable startup, will likely choose the U.S. over London for the Swedish fintech company’s blockbuster stock market listing. Klarna was valued at $31 billion in a funding round this March, and the listing is likely in the next year or two. The chief executive had previously said that choosing a London listing would depend on the U.K. government’s post-Brexit financial services regulation. Siemiatkowski denied that he was keeping the option open of listing in London in an attempt to convince the government to weaken regulations, the Sunday Times reported. A review ordered by the chancellor has recommended softening listing rules, such as permitting dual-class share structures in the premium part of the stock market.

KOTA KINABALU: Sabah STAR gives no special treatment to wrongdoers, says Datuk Seri Dr Jeffrey Kitingan. The party president said Sabah STAR fights for justice and equality, particularly for the rights of the natives in Sabah, and will not shield any members involved in any wrongdoings. He expressed regret that the incident, which involved an Unduk Ngadau contestant, has caused distress among STAR members and exposed the party to heavy attacks. A senior leader of Sabah STAR was arrested for allegedly molesting a participant at the just concluded state-level cultural pageant, amid a call to other contestants to come forward if they were similarly accosted. Phillip Among, who was suspended as Putatan Sabah STAR parliamentary coordinator, was arrested on Thursday (June 3), shortly after he gave a press conference denying the accusation.

Over the years, this band of neighbours has chatted over garden fences and shared seeds and harvests with each other. That’s the one where the author points excitedly to a place that’s off the beaten path, without regard for those who frequent it. The stories I most often read about my city are Vancouver as yogadom, bike mecca, cannabis central, Left Coast and Hollywood North.
