While K-pop stars are certainly in-demand where fashion is concerned, let us not forget the influence of Chinese celebrities. Big names in China have a huge following too, and luxury brands are quick to capitalise on this. Other luxury brands looking East (specifically China) include Burberry, Cartier, Fendi, Christian Louboutin, Emporio Armani, Tiffany & Co and more. In November last year, Forbes reported that China is headed to be the world’s largest luxury market by 2025. Thus, it is only natural that luxury brands are going into overdrive to recruit celebrities that will appeal to China's consumers.

Mayweather will be fighting Logan Paul, former champion of the YouTube world. Paul is now making more money from boxing than he ever made from hawking brands as a social-media influencer. Logan appeared on TV shows such as Law & Order: Special Victims Unit and landed several major endorsement deals. Initially, some boxing fans dismissed Logan as a sideshow, an amateur narcissist giving the sport a bad name. The more that right-minded social critics disapprove of the Paul brothers, the move their stock rises in the ring.

One way to encourage more people in Malaysia to participate in the e-Census and other data-driven research is to highlight the long-term benefits of contributing to these studies. KRI, a think-tank under Khazanah Nasional Berhad, has employed the census data in most of their major reports, which provide recommendations for policy-making. Simultaneously, the government should enact a data privacy law that includes government data, ” he says, addressing the privacy concerns. “By far, the biggest data-related challenge the World Bank faces in Malaysia is insufficient access to survey data. That means I grew up with two people with whom I had to compete and two others whom I had to prove wrong. My parents relaxed the rules as I got older but it hurt to see my brothers free to do as they pleased without any restrictions and my friends having fun without me. When guests visited us, my father would ask me to prepare the drinks even though my brothers were free to help. When I said “no”, his response would invariably be that a woman should know how to do these things. I wish that young girls could grow up without having to worry about anything other than living life the way they see fit.
