‘Aquaman’ Jason Momoa to Filipinos: ‘We’re basically family’

MANILA, Philippines — In a press conference in Manila on Tuesday, “Aquaman” star Jason Momoa explained why he, co-star Amber Heard, and director James Wan included the Philippines as a stopover in promoting the Hollywood film. “Manila resonates a lot,” said the “Game of Thrones” star, who was born in Honolulu, Hawaii to a native Hawaiian dad. There are more Filipinos than Hawaiians, so we’re kind of basically family, so it’s an honor to be here and also to represent someone, you know, we have the same mythology, the same history,” said Momoa. “In Hawaii, it’s definitely a melting pot of a lot of different cultures, and Filipinos, definitely, in my side of the island are very special,” he enthused. — Videos by Kat LeandichoRelated videos: Jason Momoa on Filipino cultureJason Momoa shares his preparations for 'Aquaman'
