There have been 26 claims made to EQC off the back of last Thursday's 4.3 magnitude earthquake in Canterbury. Twenty-six people have lodged claims with the Earthquake Commission (EQC) after last week's 4.3 magnitude earthquake near Christchurch. Of the 26 claims EQC had received, 19 were in Christchurch, five in Selwyn and two were from the Waimakariri District. EQC deputy chief executive Renée Walker said the quake, which was quite shallow at a depth of 5km, was the most widely felt in Canterbury in "quite some time".
