He was arrested and later sentenced to prison by a court for impersonating a doctor and treating patients without a medical licence. Residents who had been seeing the “doctor” for 36 years were shocked by the revelation. > More than 1,400 members of All Malayan Estates Staff Union (Amesu) participated in a discussion over the revised minimum salary agreement for plantation workers, Makkal Osai reported. The union, formed in 1927 and registered in 1936, represents about 5,000 plantation workers in the country. The previous salary agreement with the Malayan Agricultural Producers Association (Mapa) expired last year and a new agreement was proposed by Amesu.
