The volunteer cadre of the military allows its officers to retire after serving the military for a period of 12 years. Generally, we only have two PHIs allocated to the Welikada Prison; now, these PHIs will be assigned as per the requirement,” Rohana elaborated. The PHI cadre has about 50 such PHIs in total who completed the Public Health Inspectors Diploma Course and were delisted from the military. Although these PHIs will be assigned to the Department of Prisons, they will be included in the Ministry of Health payroll.
