Though doubtful whether the general voter knew what to make of it, it was a painful experience of service benefit cuts. Despite the pain, the electorate saw it wise to vote the Tories back into power shortly after the 2016 Brexit referendum. In that context, one wonders what to make of election manifestos announced by the Awami League and BNP with less than 12 days left for the polls. It proves the point that manifestos aren’t throwaway documents or show-pieces. The Awami League rules the roost in the sense that they can produce the measurable results of their previous manifestos.
