Airlines have been told to restrict access to lavatories and ban passengers from carrying large bags onto flights under international rules to promote “Covid-proof” air travel. New guidance published by the United Nations that is expected to be followed by the UK suggests that travellers should use “masks or other coverings” throughout the airport to prevent transmission of the coronavirus. It recommends that passengers should travel “as lightly as possible” and avoid using overhead lockers, allowing everybody to board as quickly as possible. They should check all luggage except small items that fit under the seat in front.
