Killing Eve was stunning television. When Villanelle abruptly, repeatedly, stabbed lovely Bill Pargrave – the series’ most likeable character – Killing Eve and its beautiful young villainess didn’t seem so chic and witty after all. Even the sight of Villanelle casually gassing a Chinese colonel with carbon monoxide - having clamped his testicles with a huge pair of surgical tongs – was faintly comic. Never mind Killing Eve, by Killing Bill her crimes – and the show - had real pain. ‘Don’t take him!’ vocalist Jade Vincent sighed as Eve Pilastri, trapped in the morass of dancers, screamed his name.
