Companies begin reporting their second quarter profits this week. The big banks, in particular, are likely to reveal bumper profits, The Times’s Lananh Nguyen reports. Analysts predict that earnings for companies in the S&P 500 rose more than 60 percent in the second quarter compared with last year.
