Halifax taxi driver accused of sex assault had female passenger’s DNA on his lips, court hears

Under questioning from the Crown, Westecott said the female profile was the “major” source of DNA in the mixture while the male was the “minor” source, and there was roughly twice the amount of female DNA. From the penis swab, Westecott said they built a DNA profile of “male number one,” which they used to compare with any other male DNA they found. Forensic biologist Martin Westecott continued testifying on Monday about the DNA analysis of swabs taken from Al-Rawi and the complainant. The complainant’s DNA profile matched the female one and could not be excluded as the source, Westecott said. The Crown also asked Westecott if DNA can be detected in urine.
