A productive Ethio-Pakistan Business Forum was held in Addis Ababa on Monday in the presence of more than 500 businesspersons from diverse sectors including agriculture and agro-processing, manufacturing, mining, tourism and information and communication technology (ICT). Key ministers from the government of Ethiopia including Ambassador Birtukan Ayano, State Minister of Foreign Affairs, Gebremeskel Chala, Minister of Trade and Regional Integration, and Aklilu Tadesse, CEO of Industrial Parks attended the forum. Addressing the forum, Ambassador Birtukan Ayano said the Ethio-Pakistan Business Forum would be instrumental in giving first-hand information to the business community of Pakistan on trade and investment opportunities in Ethiopia. She pointed out that Ethiopia and Pakistan had enjoyed longstanding relations that had been flourishing with increased cooperation in economy, healthcare and education. He highlighted the homegrown Economic Agenda 2.0 under which multiple initiatives were taken to facilitate and incentivise the business, trade and investment.

In a move designed to open up the domestic airline market, the Ethiopian Civil Aviation Authority has authorised private charter carriers to break into Ethiopia's scheduled domestic passenger and cargo market. In a statement released on social media, the authority revealed that it had already granted licences to Ethiopian air transport operators to provide regular passenger and cargo flights in addition to the charter services they currently provide.
