A 22-year-old man was fatally shot in Mukwa village, Kakamega County, on Tuesday, February 20, following an altercation with the police. Upon arrival at the scene, the team of officers led by Navokholo OCS Kennedy Odongo found a frantic mother, and the suspect in her pursuit. The suspect persisted and aimed to cut the OCS who was still down, and in the process, the OCS shot him fatally in the chest. The two were rushed to the Navakholo sub-county hospital where the suspect was declared dead on arrival, as the OCS was attended to and referred to the Kakamega County General Referral Hospital for further treatment. The Police have launched further investigations into what transpired before the incident, as the body of the suspect was moved to Kakamega County General Referral Hospital mortuary where it will await a postmortem examination.
