MONROVIA – The Managing Director of the Liberia Airport Authority has been summoned before the Plenary of the House of Representatives to address himself to the outsourcing of the cargo handling of the airport. MD John Allen Klayee will also address the inability of the Airport Management to pay employees, amongst other things. The Airport Manager has been widely criticized for months for bad labor practices resulting to employees not being paid for more than five months. An official communication was Monday, April 12 sent to the controversial Airport Manager to appear before the Plenary of the House of Representatives tomorrow April 13 to address the claims against him. Klayee has also been criticized for employing family members and members of his Church, the Jubilee Praise Ministries.

Monrovia – The head coach of the Liberia national football team James Peter Butler has invited 25 players to begin training ahead of the Mano River Union Tournament. Liberia will participate in the maiden edition of the MRU tournament that will run from April 21- 25 in Kanema, Sierra Leone. Several outstanding players in the ongoing national league have been left out of Butler’s squad, something which has created debate among football lovers. Butler has called up to two players from Page FC a championship side from Bomi a league he has not watched. The tournament, which will run from 21-25 April, will feature the men’s under-15 and women and men’s senior national teams.

The Unity Party should suspend Mr. Ali with immediate effect and launch an investigation into the allegations. During the period of the investigation, Mr. Ali should have nothing to do with the Unity Party and CPP pending the outcome. The Unity Party should also inform the public about such investigation and assure the public of impartiality in the process. In essence, the timely interventions of the Unity Party, CPP and the Ministry of Justice in addressing this moral, ethical and legal issue cannot be overemphasized.

The EPA is the principal authority in Liberia for the management of the environment and the sustainable use of the natural resources. The Agency is empowered under section 75 of the EPML to prescribe measures for protection of wetlands, the release concluded. The Mesurado Wetlands around the Police Academy Junction along the SKD Boulevard is designated as a Ramsar site under the Ramsar Convention on wetlands of international importance of which Liberia is a signatory. Despite plentiful evidences of violation of the EPML, the EPA sought a court warrant to demolish structures erected in the wetlands.

MONROVIA – In December last year, President George Weah issued Executive Order 103 in an effort to stimulate economic growth. Executive Order 103, among other things, exempted all commercial importers of goods into Liberia from seeking Import Permit Declaration (IPD), however, FrontPageAfricainvestigation has found that the President’s Executive Order has been trashed by the Ministry of Commerce.
