Though the Vietnamese team only needed a draw to advance, they controlled the game from the early minutes. The Uzbekistan’s net shook in the ninth minute after a decisive dribble and shot by striker Ngan Thi Thanh Hieu. In the 72nd minute, from a counter-attack situation, Vietnam increased the lead to 2-0 thanks to a goal from Hoai Trinh. In the final minutes, a goal from captain and defender Nguyen Thi Thuong secured a 3-0 victory for the team.
