(Photo: 10th Regional Fine Arts Office, Nakhon Ratchasima)The Fine Arts Department has found damage to around 30 ancient sites from recent conflicts along the Thai–Cambodian border and has scheduled a meeting on Friday to discuss restoration plans. Among the most severely affected sites is Prasat Ta Kwai in Surin, which dates back to sometime between the 11th to 13th centuries, built in the Khmer style during the Angkorian period. The survey focused on assessing the damage to Prasat Ta Kwai and Prasat Khana, both of which were found to have suffered serious deterioration. Officials and soldiers survey Prasat Ta Kwai in Surin on Jan 25. He said it took about 10 days for Thai forces to seize and secure control of the area around the Ta Kwai ruins during the conflict in December.
