Awami League leader Kamruzzaman sent to jail over Banglamotor rallyAn Awami League leader has been sent to in a criminal charge under the Anti-Terrorism Act over the party’s rally at Banglamotor in Dhaka. Police produced Kamruzzaman, a member of the party’s Agriculture and Cooperatives Affairs Sub-Committee, before the court and sought his detention. Defence lawyer Shihab Mahmud applied for bail, while state counsel Azizul Haq Didar opposed the plea. After the hearing, the court rejected the bail petition and ordered the accused to be sent to jail, said Prosecution Division Sub-Inspector Zinnat Ali. According to the case details, on Sept 12, members of the banned organisation Bangladesh Chhatra League and affiliates of the Awami League held a rally in front of Rupayan Tower in Banglamotor.
