ADDIS ABABA – The newly appointed Chinese Ambassador to Ethiopia Chen Hai has taken his new post in Addis Ababa. On Monday, Ambassador-Designate Chen handed over his credentials to Melaku Bedada, Director General of Protocol Affairs at the Foreign Ministry of Ethiopia. Chen replaced Zhao Zhiyuan, who left Addis Ababa last May after serving as China’s top diplomat in Ethiopia for over three years. Born in Dec 1971, Chen has become the sixteenth ambassador of China to the East African nation. Beijing will host the 2024 Summit of the Forum on China-Africa Cooperation (FOCAC) from September 4 to 6.
