But by far the most interesting part of Calandra’s junket, from an Ontario parent’s point of view, was certainly his visit to London’s Michaela Community School. What that might mean for Ontario schools is much less clear; “nothing” is too plausible an answer. The school operates as a conscious repudiation of modern educational fads and an embrace of the old school: “private school ethos — no fees” is an unofficial motto. But Ontario parents can’t have any of this — except as a sort of background influence. If parents in London, England have that option, why can’t parents in London, Ont.?
