Egyptian Foreign Minister Sameh Shoukry said, "I sensed a response from the Turkish Foreign Minister to the importance of the impact of the Libyan issue on Egyptian national security, and this is a good direction and there is agreement among us to see a stable and sovereign Libya." For his part, Turkish Foreign Minister Mevlut Cavusoglu said that he agreed with his Egyptian counterpart, Sameh Shoukry, on working on a road map that would lead Libya to elections. Cavusoglu also indicated that they are focusing on the nature of the steps that will be taken to revive and develop relations with Egypt from now on, and they will work on developing trade relations. There is currently a project to establish a joint battalion to be a nucleus for unifying the military institutions, he added, confirming Turkey’s contact with the two sides in Libya. He stated that during his meeting with his Egyptian counterpart, they discussed preparations for holding a summit between the Turkish and Egyptian presidents, indicating that Cairo respects Turkey's maritime jurisdiction areas and noted that Egypt will benefit more from cooperation between the two countries.
