CAIRO - 5 September 2020: Led by speaker Hanafy Gebaly, a delegation of the House of Representatives left for Vienna, Austria, Sunday to attend the fifth World Conference of Speakers of Parliament and the first Global Parliamentary Summit on Counter Terrorism. Egypt’s participation in the two events is considered a good chance to exchange views regarding regional and international challenges. It is also an opportunity to review Egypt’s visions about such issues in a way that serves vital interests of Cairo. The conference of speakers is an international parliamentary tool launched in New York in 2000, when they first met and issued the Millennium Declaration in cooperation with the UN. The Global Parliamentary Summit on Counter Terrorism will, meanwhile, allow parliamentarians to identify lasting solutions and make a parliamentary contribution to global efforts in counter-terrorism and the prevention of violent extremism, with robust action and a real impact on communities, in particular the victims of terrorism.
