CAIRO- 17 December 2021: Egypt’s Cabinet approved to give COVID-19 vaccine booster shots for those who were fully-vaccinated more than six months ago. The Acting Minister said that 23 million booster doses will be provided until June 30, 2022. On Thursday evening, the Health Ministry said 901 new coronavirus cases were detected in 24 hours in Egypt, upping the total number of infections to 372,599. Health Ministry spokesman Hossam Abdel Ghaffar said 31 patients died from the virus over the past 24 hours, raising the death toll to 21,234. He added that the ministry has already used 48 million doses in vaccination so far, with about 51 million doses remaining ready for use.
