Ethiopian Toll Roads Enterprise (ETRE) announced impressive results for the first nine months of the 2023/24 fiscal year. It collected over Birr 748 million Birr in tolls from more than 8.4 million vehicles traveling on their three highways. ETRE's performance included Birr 75.6 million earned from miscellaneous income and a pre-tax profit of Birr 415 million, reflecting a 29% increase compared to the same period last year. Currently, over 30,780 vehicles use ETRE roads daily. Sentayehu Mekonen acknowledged challenges such as resource theft, reduced night traffic due to safety concerns, and rising maintenance costs.
