Former State Assemblymember Zohran Mamdani, a democratic socialist who excoriated the president in his victory speech, won New York City’s mayoral race against disgraced former Gov. Andrew Cuomo (D) — whom Trump had publicly endorsed a day prior. Neal Katyal, a lawyer representing the companies suing the Trump administration over his tariffs, stated plainly Wednesday in his opening remarks to the court, “Tariffs are taxes. “‘Tariffs are taxes’ is the single shortest sentence that exposes the lie of the Trump tariffs, which Donald Trump has claimed are paid by foreign countries,” he said. “Donald Trump’s lawyer, the solicitor general, didn’t dare try to tell that lie to the Supreme Court today.”Watch the full monologue below:
