The security unrest in Sudan will “negatively affect the security of Libya’s southern borders,” warned Libyan member of parliament Saeed Amgheib. On 15 April 2023, clashes broke out across Sudan, particularly in the capital city of Khartoum, between rival factions of the country’s ruling military government. By 17 April, at least 97 people had been killed. The fighting began with attacks by the paramilitary Rapid Support Forces (RSF) on key government sites.
