A man said to be the oldest person in the world has died aged 125, reportedly beating the official record held by an 116-year-old British woman. The farmer, known as Mashico, was born in 1900, making him the oldest man in his country - and quite possibly the most elderly person in the world. She is also the oldest British person in recorded history and the last known surviving person to have been born in the 1900s decade. Two years ago, the Peruvian government began the process of registering him as the world's oldest man with Guinness World Records. This reportedly marked the first documented exchange between the world's oldest verified woman and oldest verified man.
