Libyan Foreign Minister Najla Mangoush met in Tripoli today with Joost Klarenbeek who submitted his credentials as the Netherlands’ new ambassador in Libya. For his part, Klarenbeek affirmed his willingness to continue efforts to “strengthen relations and cooperation between the two countries and support efforts that seek to establish stability and peace in Libya.”Born in 19 July 1968, Klarenbeek served in his country’s Embassy Council in Croatia from 2003 to 2007. He went on to serve as deputy ambassador in Italy from 2013 to 2018. Since 2019, he served as special envoy for migration in the Dutch foreign ministry. Klarenbeek will replace Dolf Hogewoning who served as ambassador to Libya since October 2021.
