A sombre mood engulfed Mamba village in Yatta, Machakos county, where slain Makadara magistrate Monica Kivuti was laid to rest on Saturday. Members of the judicial community including judges, magistrates and advocates eulogised Kivuti as diligent, saying she was passionate in her work. Kivuti was admitted to the bar in 2008 and became a magistrate six years later. The Kenya Magistrates and Judges Association vice president, Rhoda Yator, described Kivuti as a shining light, beacon of justice and pillar of strength. Court of Appeal president Justice Daniel Musinga said Kivuti was a hardworking and dedicated judicial officer who had a bright career ahead of her.
