South Korea intends to secure supply chains and pave the way for its companies to expand its presence in Africa with a focus on several sectors, including critical minerals and energy. This included South Korea signing 12 agreements and 34 memorandums of understanding (MOUs) with several African nations. The summit was the first of its kind hosted by South Korea for African nations and the largest multilateral summit since the Yoon Suk Yeol administration took office in May 2022.
