Controlled demolition scheduled for February 1 as part of modernisation driveJamshedpur, January 29: Tata Steel will carry out the controlled demolition of the obsolete Coal Tower of Battery #7 at its Coke Plant in Jamshedpur on February 1, 2026, at 12 noon, as part of its ongoing infrastructure modernisation and safety initiatives. The demolition will be executed using advanced engineering techniques by Edifice Engineering, a specialised partner engaged for the activity. The process is designed to ensure minimal environmental impact and no damage to personnel, plant or equipment. All statutory approvals and No Objection Certificates (NOCs) have been obtained from the relevant authorities. Tata Steel has successfully undertaken similar controlled demolitions in the past, including the implosion of obsolete chimneys and coal towers at the Coke Plant Jamshedpur, in line with best-in-class safety and engineering standards.
