Two magnitude-4.2 quakes off northern Sumatra were detected early yesterday, with tremors in the region near Phuket and Satun, Thailand’s Met Depart­ment says. The Earthquake Obser­va­tion Divi­­­sion under the Met Depart­ment reported two earthquakes off northern Sumatra, Indonesia, early yesterday, prompting heigh­tened attention in parts of southern Thailand. According to the official report, both events measured magnitude 4.2 at a depth of 10km, occurring several hours apart.
