When a group of 108 migrants tried to sail from Libya to Malta, they were intercepted by Libyan Coast Guard ship. This is just one harrowing detail from a UN fact-finding mission report on the exploitation of migrants in Libya since 2016. The UN report gives a detailed description of what Libyan Coast Guard (LCG) interception and disembarkation operations look like. Last February, the European Commission handed over five specialised search and rescue vessels to the Libyan Coast Guard. But as resources go to interception, Libyan entities still commmit violations and abuses against migrants.
