A video shared on Facebook claims to show the landslide as it occured. However, this is false: the clip shows a massive landslide in the northeastern Indian state of Meghalaya in June 2022. Audio from the original footage was altered. Indian disasterAFP Fact Check used the video verification tool InVID-WeVerify to conduct reverse image searches on keyframes from the video. The natural sound of the landslide in the original footage of the event was altered in the clip falsely linked to Ethiopia.
