The warrant, approved on Jan 22, followed a petition by investigators from the Department of Special Investigation (DSI). Mr Tantai is accused of conspiring with others to launder money derived from intellectual property violations, a crime carrying a 15-year statute of limitations. Authorities allege that Mr Tantai, together with Nuwat Yongyut and six associates, operated the website moviebfree.com, which distributed pirated foreign films. Investigations revealed that the group also allegedly ran online gambling platforms and placed advertisements on the site, later developing video ads that played before pirated movie files.
