The most recent detection was announced by the California Department of Fish and Wildlife that CWD has been detected within deer and elk in the state. According to Richards, some states are taking on a more of a monitoring stance and that alone will not alter the outcomes of the disease. Current researchAs the CWD cases continue to rise, researchers are investigating if it is possible to be transmissible to humans. Scientists are expecting the study to take many years before determining what the risks, if any, CWD has to humans since it takes a long time for symptoms of CWD to appear.1Reference

European investment in the project started with a EUR 307.6 million ($330.2 million) grant from the Connecting Europe Facility approved December 2022. The EU later that month approved a EUR 27 million ($29 million) grant under the Neighborhood Investment Platform for the project’s critical infrastructure components in Tunisia. The German bank has invested EUR 13 million ($14 million) for this component, adding to EUR 10 million ($10.7 million) from the EU. For the social and environmental studies component, which is implemented by the EBRD, the EU has invested EUR 5 million ($5.4 million). “Tunisia's solar energy potential is enormous”, Marcus Cornaro, head of the EU delegation in Tunisia, said of the investments.
