Former Narayanganj City Corporation (NCC) mayor Dr Selina Hayat Ivy has been shown arrested in Selim Mondal murder in Siddhirganj during the student movement in 2024. Additional Superintendent Narayanganj district police Tarek Al Mehedi said Ivy was shown arrested in the case on Thursday afternoon following a court order. Interior worker Selim Mondal in an arson attack on in a building in Siddhirgonj on July 20, 2024 during the anti-discrimination student. The court granted the petition and subsequently she was shown arrested in the case following due legal procedures. Dr Selina Hayat Ivy, implicated in dozens of cases, is currently in jail since her arrest on May 9, 2025, police added.

The Fisheries Department of Hathazari upazila conducted a special operation in the Halda River, known as the sole natural fish breeding ground in South Asia. During the operation, they confiscated 3,500 meters of illegal nets and 12 fishing rods. The raid took place from Masuaghona to Nazirhat of the Haladar estuary of the Nazirhat Halda River in Hathazari upazila. Senior Upazila Fisheries Officer of Hathazari, Md Shoukat Ali, confirmed that a total of 3500 meters of char-enclosed nets and 12 fishing rods were seized during the operation. The confiscated nets have been stored at a temporary naval police camp along the Halda River.

Iranian Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (Irgc) commander General Mohammad Pakpour and Defense Minister Amir Nasirzadeh were reportedly killed in Israeli airstrikes inside Iran on Saturday morning. Israeli officials said Pakpour, Nasirzadeh, and Iran’s intelligence chief were likely among those targeted. If confirmed, Pakpour’s death would deal a major blow to Iran’s security establishment.
