In the referendum, 105,032 voters cast 'Yes' votes while 72,266 others cast 'No' votes in this constituency. In Barishal-6 (Bakerganj), Abul Hossain Khan, district BNP convener, won the seat with 82,217 votes.

DHAKA, Feb 13, 2026 (BSS) - A total of 59.44 percent of voters exercisedtheir franchise in the 13th Jatiya Sangsad election and referendum, theElection Commission (EC) confirmed today. Polling for the election and referendum began simultaneously across thecountry at 7:30am on February 12 and continued uninterruptedly until 4:30pm. Vote counting began on Thursday immediately after polling and returningofficers from across the country started sending results to the EC thatnight. The commission first announced partial results on Thursday evening, followedby the declaration of final unofficial results in the late hours. According to the EC's declared unofficial results, the Bangladesh NationalistParty (BNP) has won over two hundred seats in this election.

Voter turnout in the 13th National Parliamentary Election held on February 12 reached 59.44%, according to the Election Commission of Bangladesh (EC). The information was released on Friday at 11:30 a.m. through a brief statement by Md Ruhul Amin Mallik, Director of the EC’s Public Relations Division. Earlier, the EC had indicated that turnout figures would be announced late Thursday. Officials explained that including postal votes in most constituencies required additional time to ensure accuracy, and immediate statistics could have been misleading. The final turnout was confirmed only after the completion of the vote count.

Nazrul Islam Khan, a member of the Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) Standing Committee and head of the party’s election management committee, said on Friday that under the leadership of Tarique Rahman, Bangladesh’s relations with India are expected to strengthen following the party’s decisive election performance. Speaking to journalists, Nazrul Islam Khan hailed the BNP as a “tested strength of democracy” in Bangladesh. Although the Election Commission has yet to officially declare the results, the party has reportedly secured victories in roughly two-thirds of parliamentary seats. Addressing complaints from Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami, Khan said while the party may be upset and voice allegations, no complaints were filed against BNP candidates. He expressed confidence that the BNP’s performance will continue to improve in future elections.
