Unidentified miscreants killed a battery-run easy-bike driver and fled with the vehicle in Gopalganj, police said. Sufian, a resident of Singati village in Mollahat upazila of Bagerhat, was the son of Shukur Chowdhury. He had been living with his family in a rented house in Gobra village under Gopalganj Sadar. According to police, Sufian left home with his easy-bike on Thursday morning but did not return at night. Family members later identified the body at the hospital.

A student of History Department at Rajshahi University (RU) was killed in a train accident at Abdulpur Railway Junction in Natore on Friday. The deceased was identified as Mahdi Hasan Murad, a student of the 2024–25 academic session at Rajshahi University. Exploration activities have resumed at the country’s first iron ore mine in Pirganj upazila of Rangpur after nearly six decades. The exploration began through the excavation of a geological drilling well at Chhoto Paharapur village under Shanerhat union on February 1. The initiative is being carried out by the Bangladesh Geological Survey (BGS). Speaking at the event, Secretary Saiful Islam said the government would extend full support if commercially viable mineral resources are discovered.
