Following media reports suggesting the chief justice served show-cause notices on three High Court judges, the Supreme Court has clarified that no such notices were issued. In a media statement on Tuesday, the Supreme Court said the chief justice had only requested “case-related information” from the judges as part of routine administrative procedure. Earlier in the day, several news outlets reported that the chief Justice had issued show-cause notices to three High Court judges over granting a large number of bail orders. The judges named in those reports were Justice Abu Taher Saifur Rahman, Justice Mustafa Zaman Islam, and Justice Zakir Hossain. The Supreme Court directed the media to verify the authenticity of information before publishing court-related news in order to preserve the reputation of the judiciary and avoid misleading the public.

The Minority Unity Alliance has expressed grave concern over a wave of threats and inflammatory rhetoric targeting Bangladesh’s Hindu community and the international religious group ISKCON, following the controversy surrounding Mufti Mohammad Mohibullah Miaji of Gazipur. Mohibullah himself had filed an abduction case with Tongi East Police on Oct 24, alleging he had been forcibly taken to Panchagarh. “Certain communal quarters have continued organised propaganda nationwide, targeting especially the Hindu community with threats to kill and destroy temples and idols,” the statement read. “This has created deep fear and anxiety among religious minorities.”The unity council and the Minority Unity Alliance condemned what they called the authorities’ “mysterious silence” in the face of these threats. It also called on democratic, secular and humanitarian citizens, journalists and political leaders nationwide to stand united against communal misinformation and incitement.

The National Citizen Party has said it will sign the July Charter only if the implementation order excludes any provision for a "note of dissent" and incorporates the recommendations of the Consensus Commission on constitutional reform, reports bdnews24.com. NCP Convener Nahid Islam announced the party's position while speaking at a press conference at the Rajshahi Parjantan Motel on Tuesday afternoon. He said: "The July Charter implementation order will not contain anything called a 'note of dissent'. The decisions of the Consensus Commission on constitutional reform must go to a referendum, and changes to the constitution must be made in accordance with the people's verdict. Nahid said the NCP would sign the July Charter only if the government ensured these points.

Jamaat-e-Islami has called on the Election Commission not to amend the Representation of the People Order (RPO) provision that requires candidates to contest under their own party symbol even when contesting as part of an alliance, reports bdnews24.com. The party also demanded that a national referendum be held next month to implement the July National Charter. After a meeting with Chief Election Commissioner AMM Nasir Uddin on Tuesday, Jamaat Secretary General Mia Golam Parwar said the party had raised these demands. The Advisory Council on Thursday gave final approval to the RPO amendment ordinance stipulating that candidates in electoral alliances must contest under their own party symbol. However, the Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) opposed the provision, demanding that the existing rule-allowing coalition members to use any available electoral symbol from the alliance they wish to-be retained.

At least 50 people were injured in a three-hour clash between two groups in Bahubal Upazila of Habiganj, triggered by a quarrel between two children. On Tuesday, police said the violence broke out at Madhyabazar from 7pm to 10pm following growing tension between residents of Baraiuri and Bahubal villages. Locals said both sides used homemade weapons during the clash. Several seriously injured victims were admitted to Habiganj Sadar Hospital, Bahubal Upazila Health Complex and Sylhet MAG Osmani Medical College Hospital, while others received first aid locally. Bahubal Police chief Md Aminul Islam said law enforcers remained deployed in the area, adding: “Those involved in the incident will be identified and brought to justice.”

Renowned journalist-turned-actor Hasan Masood has been hospitalised after falling seriously ill. United Airlines had 27%, or 807, of its flights delayed and Delta Air Lines had 21%, or 725, of its flights delayed. The FAA is about 3,500 air traffic controllers short of targeted staffing levels and many had been working mandatory overtime and six-day weeks even before the shutdown.

The European Union will deploy a large team of observers to monitor Bangladesh’s general elections in February, Ambassador Michael Miller told Chief Advisor Muhammad Yunus. Miller told Yunus that the EU is sending a full observer team to Bangladesh for the first time since 2008 and will support a local observer team during the vote, the statement added. The CAO said Ambassador Miller described the July National Charter as a “very important” document aimed at ensuring a democratic transition. Ambassador Miller said the Danish company wants to invest about $800 million to transform Laldia into one of the most modern terminals in the region. Applications for admission to undergraduate programmes at the Bangladesh University of Engineering and Technology (BUET) for the 2025-26 academic year will run from Nov 16 through to Dec 2. According to the admission circular issued on Monday, applicants will be able to submit the fees until Dec 4. Tests for Module A and Module B categories will be held in separate morning and afternoon shifts. Candidates will be shortlisted solely through the written examination, although a viva voce will still be required as in previous years. The application fee has been set at Tk 1,300 for the Engineering Departments and the Department of Urban and Regional Planning, and Tk 1,500 for the Engineering Departments, Urban and Regional Planning, and the Department of Architecture.

The decision to suspend operations came only 12 days after Cox’s Bazar Airport received official recognition as an international airport.
