The LatestU.S. President Donald Trump announced a new 10 per cent global tariff 'effective immediately,' after the U.S. Supreme Court ruled he overstepped his authority when he brought sweeping levies into effect last year. An angry Trump took questions from reporters, calling the plaintiffs "sleazebags" and saying that he was "ashamed" of some Supreme Court justices. I just spoke with a small business in St. Thomas, Ont., that has been dealing with the IEEPA tariffs for months. After the U.S. Supreme Court ruling, he reached out to his customs broker to ask about refunds — and got a confusing answer that he said essentially amounted to no. Because the Supreme Court sets its schedule for full hearings in the fall, most of the administration's wins have come on what is called the emergency docket.

ISC also warns that status cards are not valid documents for air travel. “The AFN strongly condemns these actions and reaffirms First Nations inherent and Treaty rights to cross-border mobility.”The AFN, like ISC, is now recommending First Nations members carry a Canadian passport. Ontario’s student financial aid system is set to undergo its most significant changes since 2019. The province announced the changes last week alongside a $6.4 billion postsecondary funding commitment, describing the reforms as a step toward long-term sustainability. For low-income students, added costs will be offset through the Student Access Guarantee, which ensures tuition, books and mandatory fees are covered if OSAP funding falls short. For example, a student who previously received $10,000 in OSAP funding could have received up to $8,500 as a non-repayable grant. The OSAP changes are part of a broader $6.4-billion investment over four years, intended to stabilize Ontario’s postsecondary sector.
