Retraining Alberta’s oil and gas workers for the solar industry costs far less than you think. Probable futuresThe oil and gas industry has played a crucial part in Alberta’s political structure for decades. However, many factors — including increasing electrification, reduction in renewable energy costs and climate policy — are aligning to annihilate Alberta’s traditional fossil-fuel focused energy industry. This raises a real concern for oil and gas workers’ jobs in the near future. The costs to retrain oil and gas workers could be funded in many ways.

Canada's GDP in August came in at $2.082 trillion during the month. That means there's a good chance that Canada's economy has not grown in any meaningful way since May. The numbers for August were worse than the slight 0.1 per cent uptick that economists were expecting — and worse than the 0.1 per cent uptick that the data agency had forecast in its preliminary estimate. That leaves the third quarter showing no growth and actually a slight contraction according to these monthly GDP numbers, which is well below the Bank of Canada's 0.8 per cent growth projection, said Tiago Figueiredo, an economist with Desjardins. The data agency previously reported that the economy shrank in the April-to-June quarter, so the numbers released Tuesday suggest that Canada's economy hasn't grown for at least two quarters in a row.

The chaos of music in the 90's | SaltWireA Federal Court judge has dismissed a challenge to a 2020 order-in-council that outlawed over 1,500 firearm models , ending a three-year court battle led by a coalition of plaintiffs, including Canada’s leading firearms advocacy group. The 2020 directive instantly — without passing legislation in Parliament — reclassified around 1,500 popular firearms to prohibited status , including those described as so-called “military-style” or “assault” firearms. CCFR CEO Rod Giltaca expressed dismay over Monday’s decision.
